BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Mark is an internationally experienced strategic executive and lawyer with a proven track record for facilitating growth through the execution of complex global transactions. Mark has extensive legal experience both in private practice and in-house, and works closely with the company’s Board of Directors and management team on strategic planning, exploring acquisition opportunities and risk management. Mark played a key role in the international growth of WildBrain (formerly DHX Media) where he was Executive Vice President, Legal Affairs, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary and oversaw all legal and business aspects of WildBrain’s development, production, distribution, and licensing activities. He has served on the boards of Peanuts Worldwide LLC (co-owned with the Charles M. Schulz family), DHX PH Holdings LLC (co- owned with Sony Music Entertainment Japan), GabbaCaDabra LLC (co-owned with the creators of Yo Gabba Gabba), Wild Brain International Limited, Copyright Promotions Licensing Group, and DHX Television Ltd.

Mark brings extensive experience in financings, mergers, acquisitions, securities, intellectual property, governance, and regulatory compliance.  He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2020, named to the Legal 500 General Counsel Powerlist in 2016, Awarded the Canadian Lawyer In-House Magazine Innovatio Award for In-House Dealmakers in 2015, and Recognized by Lexpert for the Canadian Deal Makers Mid-Market Award for 2012.

Mark commenced his career as a performer after completing the jazz program at St. Francis Xavier University. Mark went on to complete a B.A. Honors degree at Saint Mary’s University and earned an J.D. at Dalhousie University. He is member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association. He is  former part-time faculty at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University and currently is a governor of Saint Mary’s University and a director of both the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia, and Symphony Nova Scotia.
